TomTom One Third Edition
Price: $79.99
The refurbished TomTom One Third Edition is a quality refurbished GPS that is sure to fit in well with some of the tightest budgets out there. Coming in at $79.99 you can get the quality of a TomTom at a very affordable price. With such a low price, you are bound to have some of the higher end features left out – so don’t expect to have your cake and eat it too with this device. You are going to get what you pay for.
Some of the more notable omission in the TomTom One Third Edition GPS is the absence of hands-free bluetooth capabilities, no itinerary planning, no voice recording feature, and no custom car icons. This TomTom also doesn’t announce the names of streets, but this is only really annoying if you want your GPS to read off the name of every cross street to drive past. You are also going to get a reduced version of NavCore 7 – dubbed NavCore 7 “Lite” – that has all the power of this mapping system minus a few of the unnecessary features.
With this device you are still going to get all the things that people love about TomTom GPS. You will have access to the MapShare feature that TomTom offers. This will let you update your maps as you are driving and then share these changes with the TomTom community. This is great for refurbished GPS buyers who might be getting a unit with maps that might have some age to them. All you have to do is go to the TomTom HOME website (it is actually an application that you must download to a desktop or laptop computer, but once downloaded it access the web in order to add the updates to your device) and get the information you need directly on your navigation unit.
The TomTom One Third Edition GPS also turn-by-turn voice instructions that will keep your eyes on the road rather than your navigation GPS. This is particularly important for traveling in areas where you may not know the streets as well as you might in your home city. As with all TomTom devices, you are going to have the option of having your driving instructions spoken to you in 30 different languages. They even have celebrity and comedy voices if that tickles your fancy – Mr. T is in the house! I can just imagine him saying, “I pity the fool who doesn’t turn left in 100 feet.”
In the end, the refurbished TomTom One Third Edition GPS is not going to be the most full featured device that you can find on the market, but for the price it is a pretty good value. If you are just looking for something to give you some directions from on point to the next without a lot of frills then this refurbished GPS might suit you. But if you want something more or dislike the performance of TomTom in general then you might want to consider another GPS for your navigation needs.
